Observation on Teacher(s) of Satit Demonstartion School PBRU

1.1     Planning for teaching

Every teacher has their own way of teaching, but curriculum, syllabus, teaching plan and handbook are their guidance to teach the students in the classroom. Teaching schedule has been made, so every teacher has known their time to teach and of course they prepare their teaching material before the class. Based on my observation, the planning for teaching has been made by each of the teacher, the one that might be changed just the topic of the material.

1.2     Preparing Lessons and Materials

In preparing the lesson and the materials for the students, I saw some teachers are providing their material for the students a day before or a few hours before they teach the students. For example, they went to the photocopy machine to make a copy of students paper activity and also some materials that are going to be taught to the students in the class.
A teacher told me that she also try to find some other resources related to the students’ material before the class. They try to find it to give another example or another activity to do by the students during the lesson. They utilize the power of internet as the helper for them to find the material for the students. The other teacher utilize the moment of the day to provide the material, for instance, the teacher try to teach the students about some expressions in English according to valentine day.

1.3     Teaching in Class

Every teacher come to the classroom, open the class with greeting and ask the students about what are they going to learn for the day. Some of the students are rather difficult to put their attention to the lesson, and the teacher will stop talking until the students realize that there is something wrong with the class. They will stop talking and the teacher will tell the reason why she’s not talking. Every teacher has their own rules in the class, but all of just the same that students need to give their attention to the lesson.
In the classroom, teachers are reviewing the students activity in the last meeting, if they still remember about the lesson or not, if they have some problems in the last meeting, the teacher will repeat the material once again to make them understand.

Since the condition of the students are different, based on my observation, the teacher will give the different treatment between one class to the other class. The difference will only come from they way the teacher treat them, but not for the topic. The topic will be just the same. For instance that M.1/1 has the ability to understand the topic or the instruction that has been given by the teacher for them to do in normal way or may be faster than the teacher's thought by giving the instruction in English language. But for M.1/2, they need more longer time to understand and they must hear the explanation by the mixed language, that is English and Thai language.

This scoring sheet is the guidance for the teacher to gives the score for the students. For the evaluation system, there will be a mid test, and an examination every semester. It will be different between one teacher and other teacher in giving test to the students. It can be a test in a form of quiz after a week or may be after finishing some topics. The other thing is assignment and project that usually done by students. All of their score will be calculated and will be multiplied with 100%.

1.5  Point Addition for The Students
Stamps for the students in English subject

Every Tuesday is an English and Chinese day, in that day, every morning, students will do an activity in order to practice English, it such a warming up activity in a kind of game. Every student that talks to the English teacher or asked by teacher and they can answer it correctly, they will get a small note with a stamp on it. Every time the students got the  stamp, they should collect it and count as their additional score.
