Pedagogical Contents of Satit School Demosntration School of PBRU


1.   Teaching Methods
If you take a look on every teaching methods that teachers do, you will see the differences. Let’s just say that there are teacher A, B, and C and all of them will have schedule to teach the same level in different time. Let’s start with teacher A, I can say that this kind of teacher is a kind of normal teacher where they will open the class just as usual and then tell the students about what are they going to do in the classroom today. We can say that as a “speech” method. But, the combination between “speech” and “grouping” or “work in team” will make the lesson more interactive. Teacher A combine the methods and gives the students more time to do excercise rather than focus on giving the material to students by speech.
Teacher B has a quite similar method with teacher B, but the difference is that the first teacher or teacher A combining it with grouping the students to do the task, meanwhile, teacher B purely do “speech” until the end of the class and ask the students to do the task or excercise by themselves. One thing that I saw from this teacher is she a little bit tough in teaching the students, she’s no doubt in giving punishment to the student who not pay attention or can’t answer even for the easiest question. It makes the student afraid and sometimes look uncomfortable, but the most important thing that the students are paying their attention to the teacher and understand the material even in a condition of under pressure.
Teacher C has a very different style in teaching, she has a quite unique method in which students are more interactive in the classroom. The teacher offers the students to see English from fun way of learning. We know that students nowadays get engaged with their gadget and their social media. What this kind of teacher do is trying to utilize that habbit into the classroom, for instance ask the students to send their assignment or to do their assignment through social media and give them the deadline. Or the other thing is learning with song. It will be much easier to take their attention in the learning process.



1.2     Learning Materials and Innovation
            Every students in this school has their own handbook which is also used by the teacher as the guidance to send the material to the students. The innovation that teacher does is in how to find the material by using internet and compare it to students activity, or the teacher try to connect between the upcoming event with the lesson so the students more excited in the learning process. In science, the school is providing the material for the students to make an innovation.



1.3  Sources of Learning and Technology

The source of learning is of course from the students and teachers handbook, but the technology has a big role in teaching process. In English major itself, they need to do listening section, and because of that thing so the students need at least a speaker to do that. And school has provided that thing to make sure that students can do listening section because it is one of the most important thing in learning English in which they need to hear the pronunciation of the language from the native speaker.
Students are usually assigned to do a project in group to present something, and school has provided computer and also the LCD or projector to help students send their presentation, so they can do maximum effort to give the clear explanation in front of the other students. The students also can use the scanner to show something from their paper or other written resource to the other group if they don't have it in their slide. 
It's a good news that some of the teacher also utilize youtube from the internet connection that school has also provided. They use it to show the video of the lesson or related to the lesson. It will be more effective that students can see the real example and put their attention more to the video that showed. Sometimes, students might bored with the kind of activity that they do everyday with the teacher and sometimes, a new thing will be more interested and work to take the students attention.

1.4  Authentic assessment

Almost every teacher especially in English major or subject will give the students an activity in the classroom. Sometimes, students will check their own task. In the classroom, students are leading to have a lot of vocabularies that’s why one of the students task is to find the meaning of the words on the lesson and the teacher will check it. The other thing that the teacher has a different time to give the quiz to the students. It can be whenever the teacher wants.
For the assignment, teacher always give the students assignment at the end of the lesson. For English subject, the main point is speaking, one of the usual assignment that is given by the teacher is that the students need to make their own conversation and present it in front of the class in pairs. Teacher also gives them assignment to present some topics in front of the classroom in a group.
For the test, middle test or examination, for English subject, the question is based on what students have learnt before, the kind of the test is including multiple choice, fill in the blank, tenses and brain storming. All of these kind of questions are combined in one test for the students. A teacher also going to calculate the amount of the point af the active students who have answer the teacher quoestions, because every time the teacher gives the students a question to answer, teacher will ask the students to put a stamp which means that they got 1 point, and it will be calculated with their score at the end after the examination of every term.
